Presided over by charismatic general manager Jean-Vital Domezon for more than a decade, the hotel offers a range of sumptuous, individually styled rooms and suites, all bedecked in exquisite art and elegant furnishings and complemented by marble-lined bathrooms. Elegantly poised at the edge of Lake Leman with magnificent views of the famous Jet d’Eau and Mont Blanc, this beautiful boutique hotel showcases British charm and character with the finest of Swiss hospitality.
Built in 1872, the hotel is a true city landmark, with an impressive facade designed by celebrated architect Anthony Krafft. Not only is Hotel d’Angleterre famous for its refined style and generous service, but our pedigree means we are also proud to have some of the longest-serving members of staff; one member of our concierge team was with us for 42 years.
Every one of our team members is empowered to make a real difference, offering remarkably considerate service and discrete attention to detail. From freshly-cut flowers in the suites to personalised gifts for special occasions, it is no surprise that guests often remember the names of our staff and ask after them when they return.
Hotel d’Angleterre is a proud part of the family-owned and run The Red Carnation Hotel Collection. We are deeply proud of the hotel’s history, both as one of the first hotels in Geneva, and as the city’s only luxury boutique hotel.

From the theatrical Crêpes Suzette prepared at your table, to delectable salmon sashimi, healthy breakfasts and delicious high teas, Windows restaurant is renowned for service and spectacular views over the lake. Executive Chef Alexandre Cardiga creates signature dishes from our founder and president Beatrice Tollman, alongside local specialties and an exceptional wine list.
"Originally built in 1872, Hotel d’Angleterre has celebrated more than 150 years of Swiss hospitality. We’ve welcomed several presidents, ministers, ambassadors and pop stars but, most importantly, guests who hope to enjoy beautiful moments by the shores of Lake Geneva.
The hotel joined Red Carnation in 2001, enriching the collection with a Swiss destination. I feel so proud to have several team members who have been with us for more than 20 years. Standing at reception, I sometimes hear guests and employees talking to each other, respectfully using first names - just like you would in a family.
Windows restaurant has brought some British flair to the hotel, becoming famous for its Afternoon Tea as well as delicious signature dishes created with locally sourced ingredients.
One of my favourite moments is when I take a guest onto the rooftop at sunset and show them what Geneva has to offer before spending time in the Leopard Lounge; this is the real ‘place to be’ in Geneva.
Our prime location, in front of the famous Jet d’Eau, is just a boat ride away from the centre. Here, you can discover the flower clock, the old city, and the Patek Philippe Museum. We are proud of our signature experiences such as a watchmaking lesson to create your own timekeeper, or a day trip to beautiful Yvoire, Gruyère, or Lausanne.
We cannot wait for you to join us for a memorable stay in Geneva."
- Jean-Vital Domézon, General Manager
