We are delighted to welcome our newest member of the team, Julien Meurillion, Sommelier at Hotel d'Angleterre. After honing his craft in several prestigious Maisons, Julien now brings his wealth of experience and expertise to our team. Here, he faces the delightful challenge of exploring and discovering his favourite wines among French, South African, and Swiss varieties.

Julien's journey into the world of wine began serendipitously while working as a Chef de Rang in a restaurant in the South of France. It was here that he fell in love with the intricate universe of wine. "As a child, I admired the sommelier's work, the way he would approach tables, his know-how," reminisces Julien. 

Driven by his passion, Julien dedicated his youth to rigorous wine training courses, honing his palate and deepening his understanding of the complexities of winemaking. His journey has been one of curiosity, exploration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Julien is no stranger to accolades, having been nominated as the Best Sommelier in France 2020 by Gault & Millau and crowned as the Best Sommelier of Switzerland by Michelin in 2022. His expertise and dedication have earned him recognition among industry peers and connoisseurs alike. Beyond the awards and accolades, Julien's true joy lies in sharing his passion for wine with others. "I enjoy transmitting the passion of a winemaker to our guests, sharing with them all characteristics of the wine, helping them discover unrevealed tastes and pairing opportunities" says Julien.
